The Quick Access Toolbar in Microsoft Excel is a customizable toolbar that provides convenient access to frequently used commands and functions. By default, it is located in the upper-left corner of the Excel window, above the ribbon. However, its exact placement can vary depending on the version of Excel you are using.

In Excel 2010, 2013, and 2016, the Quick Access Toolbar is positioned on the title bar, next to the Excel application icon. It typically contains a small set of commonly used commands such as Save, Undo, and Redo. By default, it appears as a horizontal bar, but you can customize its appearance to make it appear below the ribbon.

To modify the Quick Access Toolbar in Excel 2010, 2013, and 2016, you can follow these steps:

  1. Locate the Quick Access Toolbar. By default, it is located on the title bar, above the ribbon.
  2. Click on the small drop-down arrow at the end of the Quick Access Toolbar. This will open a menu with customization options.
  3. From the drop-down menu, you can choose to customize the Quick Access Toolbar by selecting “Customize Quick Access Toolbar.”
  4. A dialog box will appear, presenting a list of available commands that can be added to the toolbar. You can choose from frequently used commands or browse through different command categories.
  5. To add a command, select it from the list, and click the “Add” button. The selected command will then appear on the toolbar.
  6. If you want to remove a command from the toolbar, select it from the list in the dialog box, and click the “Remove” button.
  7. You can also change the position of the toolbar by selecting the “Show Below the Ribbon” option in the drop-down menu. This will move the Quick Access Toolbar below the ribbon, providing more space for additional commands.
  8. Once you have customized the Quick Access Toolbar according to your preferences, click the “OK” button to apply the changes.

In Excel 2019 and Excel for Microsoft 365, the process of customizing the Quick Access Toolbar is similar to the steps outlined above, with minor variations in the user interface. However, the toolbar’s default placement remains the same, located on the title bar above the ribbon.

It’s worth noting that the location and appearance of the Quick Access Toolbar can be customized to suit your preferences and working style in most versions of Microsoft Excel.
